Meet Shannon P.

When did you decide to pursue a career in skin care?
Three years ago, I was in my third year of employment as a Front Desk Supervisor at my Massage Envy franchised location. My team encouraged me to pursue a career in skin care. I used the knowledge I'd gained from the skin care trainings at my location to help inform my decision.

Describe your experience at esthetics school. What did you like about it?
Esthetics school in Nebraska is short and intense. I completed 600 hours of training in just under six months. I liked the hands-on experience of the training and the fast pace of the curriculum.

What excites you most about working at a Massage Envy franchised location?
All of the new opportunities and being able to use the highest quality tools and products in the industry.

Please tell us about a day where you felt especially proud about the work that you do?
A client of mine brought in her 20 year old son while he was home from college for the summer. We worked to address the acne on his face and back. She came in again on the fourth visit with him and said that his skin had not been that clear since he was about 12 years old. By the time he went back to school he was looking me in the eye, using more positive body language, and reported feeling more confident overall.

When are you happiest at work?
When I know I'm making a sale that is going to provide a solution for a client's skin care problems.

What's the best part about living in Nebraska? Tell us something about it that others living outside the state might not know.
I live in one of the two cities in Nebraska that have any real sort of population. We are home to a number of Fortune 500 companies, the annual Berkshire Hathaway retreat weekend, and many arts, sports, and education opportunities in Omaha.

What advice would you give someone just starting their career in skin care?
Stick with it! Make sure to get business cards and keep on learning.

I'm excited to continue in my training position to recruit and educate new estheticians. I'm gaining more expertise with the highest quality and most exclusive skin care lines in the business.

What are your favorite hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love learning more about my business. I'm big into art, music, culture, and doing fun activities with my daughter!
